Rick & Julia Schenck
In October 1988, I was invited to a store-front church. It was the first time I had been to church and the first time I had heard the gospel. It was there when I accepted Christ as my Savior. Julia grew up in a catholic home. Later in life she realized there was no peace in her heart and by the instruction of her father, attended a bible believing baptist church. It was there she heard the gospel. After battling assurance of salvation, she confirmed her salvation at the age of 40.
In 1991, the Lord began burdening my heart for children. I began and continued to reach children. I had served in various ministries reaching many and leading many to the Lord. In 2010, God began giving me a burden to reach the Hispanic children. My wife and I would visit these children, witness to them and bring many to church. In February 2012 at my home church missions conference, God worked in my heart concerning the mission field. In August during a missions trip to Mexico, the Lord burdened my heart to reach the Hispanic homeless children. In 2017 my wife and I surrender to go into the harvest to reach orphans for Christ.
Our Mission Board
As we sought looking for a mission board, we prayed God would send us one that would be a help to us and to our Pastor. God answered our prayer through a missionary friend of ours. Word for the World Baptist Ministry has helped us in many areas. They have been a right arm for our Pastor and respectful to his position. They are very knowledgeable in many areas and have always been there when we needed them.

Our home church is Calvary Baptist Church in Colonial Heights, Virginia under the leadership of Dr. Ray Haskett. During our time there, we served in several ministries that involved working closely with children. We visited with children along the church's bus route and taught Junior Church regularly. While we greatly miss Pastor Haskett and our fellow believers at Calvary, we are excited to be on the field serving.
